DENVER, N.C. — Justin Barger is ready to open his 2021 racing season with a USCS 360 sprint car doubleheader this Friday and Saturday, April 9-10.
Barger and his Justin Barger Racing No. 5 team will head to Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C., Friday for night one of the weekend swing. The “Thunder in the Carolinas” show will feature USCS’s Outlaw Thunder Tour plus the track’s weekly divisions. Gates will open at 5pm and racing is slated to start at 8.
Saturday night will see Barger’s return to Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C., for the Sprint Car Shootout. Barger has had a good bit of success at the popular four-tenths-mile track. He won there with USCS in 2019 and ran second last year. Gates will open at 4:30pm with the drivers meeting at 6:30 and on-track action to follow.
“We’re eager to start the season,” Barger said from his Denver, N.C., race shop. “We always run well at Cherokee and we’ll be looking to add another win to our resume there. We’ve never won at Carolina but we’ve had some great speed there over the last few years. We’ll do everything we can to open our season with a win Friday night to give us momentum heading into Saturday. I hope everyone comes out to enjoy the action.”
